The clerk’s department can issue a marriage licence for a marriage taking place in Ontario. An appointment is required.
Before scheduling an appointment, you must send the following documents by email to:
- The application form available on Service Ontario (at the bottom of the page), completed and signed.
- Either your birth certificate or a valid passport.
- A valid government issued photo ID (for example: Canadian Citizenship card, driver’s licence, provincial Photo Card or passport).
- If you are divorced, the original final judgment or certificate of divorce.
Once the documents are received, they will be reviewed and you will be contacted to schedule an appointment to sign and get the marriage licence. Only one person needs to be present at the appointment.
The marriage licence is valid for a period of three months from the date issued.
Cost: $150.00 (payable in cash or debit the day of the appointment).
