OE – 2025-04-22 - OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE FOREMAN - Environmental Service

Non-unionized permanent full-time position, 40hrs/week

Reporting directly to the Environmental Superintendent, this position directs and supervises the daily work activities of the Environmental staff to ensure the efficient operation of the Town’s drinking water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant and water distribution system.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Be available to answer emergency calls after hours, including weekends

Responsibilities 

  • Act as Overall Responsible Operator (ORO)
  • Supervise and assign work to the operating staff to ensure that systems are operated & maintained as required
  • Implements and coordinate a preventative maintenance plan for the three systems
  • Ensure compliance with Drinking Water and Wastewater regulations & legislations
  • Ensure that all health and safety regulations, standards and policies are followed
  • Operate systems and related equipment as required
  • Handles day-to-day labour relations matters, including adherence to the Collective Agreement and handling of grievances and the imposition of discipline as required
  • Be available to address issues that may arise after hours (on-call)
  • Performs other duties, responsibilities and functions as assigned

Requirements

  • University degree in engineering, environmental technology or any other related field.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a Class IV water distribution certification, Class IV water treatment certification, and Class IV wastewater treatment license, or equivalent certifications from another Canadian province or territory. 
  • Three (3) years of experience in personnel management
  • Manual skills in mechanics and equipment maintenance, such as pumps, valves, motors and other advanced complex rotating equipment
  • Ability to analyze problems and issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop sound conclusions, recommendations, and action plans
  • Experience with inventory and preventative maintenance programs in an operational or production environment.
  • Knowledge in emergency response scenarios, including response to environmental spills, power failures, flooding, and general operational challenges on a 24/7 basis
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, CityWide, OneDrive, GIS, and SCADA)
  • Thorough knowledge of MECP Regulations and Operating Guidelines plus any other legislation relevant to the duties
  • Hold a valid driver's license
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English (oral and written).  The work environment is Francophone. 

Remuneration

The annual salary offered for this full-time position (40 hours/week) ranges from $88,287 to $107,416 per year. The Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury offers very attractive benefits.

OE – 2025-04-24 - CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST

Non-unionized permanent full-time position, 35hrs/week

Reporting to the Director of Public Works and Engineering, the candidate will participate in the effective management of Technical Services capital projects, adhering to strict professional standards to ensure safety and quality while controlling costs and project schedules.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY

  • Defines needs by drafting technical quotes for collaborative tenders and evaluates bids with the various departments involved.
  • Supervises and inspects the work to ensure the quality of the material and respects of the contract’s conditions.
  • Provides an advisory role in maintaining asset records and long-term planning.
  • Participates in the preparation of Technical Services capital budgets.
  • Prepare any grant or funding application that would apply to planned or approved projects.
  • Acts as a Project Manager for major projects in the municipality.
  • Represents the municipality with agencies and government programs on capital projects.
  • Update our capital management structure as well as other relevant electronic files.

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

  • College diploma in civil engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar function including project management and quality control.
  • Knowledge of Municipal Laws, methods and acquisition process of goods and services, and Ontario provincial standards for roads and public works, an asset.
  • Fluently bilingual, French and English, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project. Knowledge of AutoCad and mapping software, an asset.
  • Ability to use needed equipment to prepare plans such as laser level, GPS, total station, etc.
  • Strong people skills at all levels.
  • Be results-oriented and with a goal to maintain quality of service.
  • Great planning and organizing skills.
  • Excel in customer service, autonomy and meeting deadlines.
  • Rigorous, meticulous and demonstrate great professional work ethic 
  • Capacity to express and simplify financial data, assets technical needs and concepts of project management

SALARY

This permanent full-time position (35hours/week) has a salary range from $70,073 to $85,249 annually.  The Town offers a very attractive complete range of benefits.

OE-2025 - Recreational Activities Monitor – Sports Complex

Part time non-unionized position, flexible schedule

The Recreational Activities Monitor reports to the Recreation and Tourism Coordinator. The successful candidate monitors skating activities (on the rink and surrounding), multifunctional room activities and participate to all activities related to the sports library.

Main Tasks

  • Monitors all skating activities on the rink and enforces rules to ensure user safety
  • Monitors all activities in the multifunctional room and enforces rules and schedules in order to ensure user safety
  • Ensures the overall cleanliness & equipment storage
  • With the help of the Information Desk employees and in accordance with the procedures, ensures the loan & return of the sports library equipment.

Requirements

  • Comfortable on skates
  • Basic knowledge of racquet sports
  • Must be bilingual (French and English)

OE-2025 - Information Desk Clerk I- Sports Complex

Part-time seasonal position, a minimum of 15 hours/month

The Information Desk Clerk I reports to the Director of Recreation and Tourism. The successful candidate performs customer service duties at the front desk of the Sports Complex, monitors activities of participants, issues equipment and provides program and membership information to customers.

Requirements

  • Secondary education (in progress or completed)
  • Hold 6 months to a year of relevant experience (cashier, customer service)
  • Ability to learn new computer software
  • Hold a valid First Aid certificate, an asset
  • To be available to work on weekdays and weekends shifts
  • Bilingualism (French and English) oral and written.  Working environment is francophone

Salary

This unionized position has a salary of $17.20 per hour. 

In addition to their regular schedule, the chosen candidate must be available, in order to carry out last minute replacements or to fill-in for colleagues on leave.  The schedule may be modified occasionally for special events.

The Recreation and Culture Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Aquafitness Instructor to plan and instruct aquatic fitness classes at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex.

  • Certification and experience in aquafit
  • Current National Lifeguard Certification, an asset
  • Current General First Aid Certification with CPR-C

OE-2025 - School Crossing Guard

Part-time position, On call, Monday to Friday

Reporting to the Director of public safety, the school crossing guard ensures the safety and wellbeing of all pedestrians as they cross a street near primary schools in the territory of Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury.

RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Analyze the environment to determine the danger zone, assess and stop traffic safely
  • Give children safety instructions and ensure they are respected
  • Control dangerous behaviour of children during crossing of the street
  • Collaborate in school safety campaigns
  • Perform any other task related to its function and/or required by its immediate supervisor    (e.g. special events)

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bilingualism (French and English)
  • Knowledge of traffic and safety rules
  • Responsible, punctual, cautious and vigilent
  • Excellent visual and hearing acuity
  • Physical condition necessary (standing work)
  • Having one (1) year of relevant experience with such clientele, an asset
  • First aid training, an asset
  • Autonomy

SALARY :

$27.55 hourly

NORMAL HOURS OF WORK

Depending on the street, crossing guards work between 7h30 and 9h00 in the morning also between 14h15 and 16h00 in the afternoon.
