What you should know
Criminal record check

(Full-time position, an average of 42 hours per week)

Willing to fight fires, respond to emergency calls and perform dispatch functions within a team working environment? Are you bilingual and able to clearly communicate in French both with teammates and citizens? Do you care about citizens’ safety and enjoying fire prevention? Are you able to workday shifts in rotation, weekends and public holidays? Join our dedicated team of career firefighters and part time firefighters in protecting our citizens in emergency situations. It’s minimally one position performing firefighter’s replacements. When firefighter vacancy occurs, the 7th firefighter can be assigned to do the appropriate replacement.
Qualifications and requirements

OE - 2023-11-29 Payroll Technician
(Full time temporary replacement for minimum 6 months)
Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the person completes the payroll process according to the procedures in place as well as the current statutes. She ensures the integrity of the data within the payroll system and the exactitude of the transactions and activities associated with the payroll, and she manages the employee’s social benefits. She answers the employees’ questions about the payroll, she performs adjustments, prepare records of employment, and finalize monthly transactions and those related to the fiscal year-end. She accomplishes any other task related to the payroll and the Human Resources Department as requested by their supervisor.
MAIN TASKS
- - Complete the entire payroll process and ensure the conformity and exactitude of the data in the payroll system by updating the information concerning hiring, termination of employment, staff movement, time off and social benefits.
- - Be the contact person for the implementation of the new pay system.
- - Be the contact person for all questions related to the payroll.
- - Ensure that the municipality’s policies and the clauses of the different collective agreements that affect payroll are followed: time off, admissibility to various premiums, overtime, time banks, among others.
- - Emit and provide all required documents according to the different statutes (record of employment severance slips, various contributions, among others).
- - Manage the enrollment of employees to the group insurance and the OMERS pension plan, ensure that updates are made to members’ files and follow up on the billing.
- - Assist with the end of month process by following up on various GL accounts
- - Complete the year-end process and manage the necessary reports (E-119 Conciliation for the OMERS retirement plan, T4, statements, summaries, conciliation of WSIB, and short and long term disability, etc.)
- - Provide an excellent customer service to employees for all questions related to the payroll, employee benefit plans, and time off.
- - Assist with various improvement projects along with the Human Resources Department.

- - Be a member of the Canadian Payroll Association.
- - Excellent knowledge of the labour laws of Ontario.
- - Excellent knowledge of MX Solutions, Sharepoint and proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- - Be completely bilingual (French and English), both orally and written.
REMUNERATION
This non-unionized, full-time position (35h/wk) has a salary scale ranging from $52,755 to $64,186 annually. You will have access to the pension plan as of the hire date, and the possibility of a flexible schedule and a hybrid arrangement of working remotely and from the office.

OE – 2023-11-03 - HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
Reporting to the CAO, the Human Resources Manager (HRM) manages the human resources department and the staff dedicated to its activities and plays an advisory role with the supervisors of the municipality.
The person is responsible for staffing and recruitment, management of working conditions (including insurance and the retirement plan), remuneration, management of labor relations, and develops all new program related to human resources. It ensures that the rules and policies of the municipality are in accordance with the Laws, and that the policies and procedures related to its sector are applied in a compliant manner. The person is responsible for the department’s budgets as well as the preparation of annual payroll forecasts for all departments.
The person must work to mobilize their team, promote individuals and ensure their development. She carries out all other related tasks requested by her immediate superior and in connection with her duties, all in accordance with the internal procedures and rules of the municipality.
REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or equivalent.
-Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position. Any combination of relevant training and experience will be considered
-Mastery of French and English both verbally and in writing.
-Excellent understanding of MS Office suite and knowledge of Sharepoint
-Excellent knowledge of payroll production procedures and year-end activities and the operation of an integrated payroll management system
-In-depth knowledge of WSIB files, group insurance programs and the OMERS’ pension plan work
-Knowledge of the Laws and standards affecting Human Resources in a municipal environment

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD (external continious posting)
(part time position, on call)
Competition: BRIG
Reporting to the Deputy Clerk, the school crossing guard ensures the safety and wellbeing of all pedestrians as they cross a street near primary schools in the territory of Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury.
RESPONSIBILITY
- Analyze the environment to determine the danger zone, assess and stop traffic safely
- Give children safety instructions and ensure they are respected
- Control dangerous behaviour of children during crossing of the street
- Collaborate in school safety campaigns
- Perform any other task related to its function and/or required by its immediate supervisor (e.g. special events)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingualism (French and English)
- Knowledge of traffic and safety rules
- Responsible, punctual, cautious and vigilent
- Excellent visual and hearing acuity
- Physical condition necessary (standing work)
- Having one (1) year of relevant experience with such clientele, an asset

NORMAL HOURS OF WORK
Depending on the street, crossing guards work between 7h30 and 9h00 in the morning also between 14h15 and 16h00 in the afternoon.
