2026 Municipal Infrastructure Outlook
Hawkesbury is entering 2026 focused on responsible, long-term infrastructure management guided by its 2025 Asset Management Plan and community input. Priorities include renewing water systems, roads, community facilities, and municipal vehicles to extend asset life and control costs.
Facing rising expenses and limited revenue, the Town is emphasizing transparency, fiscal discipline, and proactive planning to sustain essential services. The Town will continue prioritizing key projects, seeking funding opportunities, and strengthening community involvement in local decision-making.
Public Open House - Official Plan
The Town of Hawkesbury invites all interested persons to attend a Statutory Public Open House to consider revisions and provide input on the Town’s Draft Official Plan, pursuant to the requirements of Section 17(16) of the Planning Act, RSO 1990, as amended.
The Draft Official Plan can be consulted prior to the Public Open House via the link in this news article and is also available to the public for viewing at Town Hall.
Council meeting cancelled
Exceptionally, the regular Council meeting scheduled for Monday, January 12 at 6:30 p.m. is cancelled.
Recycling program update
A new enhanced recycling system allows more materials to be recycled across the province. The full accepted materials list is available online. As of January 1, 2026, recycling questions should be directed to Miller Waste, while collection services remain the same.
Registration – 2026 Winter Program
A variety of courses will be offered from January 12 to March 13 at the Sports Complex to start the year 2026 off right.
New requirement - Ontario Fire Code
As of January 1, 2026 - Carbon monoxide detectors required on every floor!!
