Notice to Residents of the Town of Hawkesbury – Phase 1 of Water Meter Upgrade Program - beginning August 2025
The Town of Hawkesbury has contracted Neptune Technology Group to replace approximately 300 aging water meters across the town. This is a mandatory program in accordance with the Ontario Public Utilities Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.52.
Water meters are the property of the Town of Hawkesbury and have a lifespan of up to 20 years, after which they must be replaced. There is no charge for the replacement or installation of the meters.
Water Meters Installation
Only affected properties will receive a notice by mail from Neptune, featuring the Town of Hawkesbury logo, with details on how to schedule an appointment. If you are a tenant, please contact the building owner upon receiving this information.
Appointments for the new water meter installation can be scheduled at your convenience: Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
What to expect during the installation
The replacement time for a new meter is approximately 60 to 90 minutes and will require the water to be shut off and then turned back on by Neptune Technology technicians during that time. Someone from your household who is at least 18 years of age must be at home during the appointment.
Before the arrival of the Neptune Technology technicians, please ensure the area around the existing water meter is clear and accessible and leave ample room for the technicians to work. Your internal main water shut-off valve should be located where the water service comes into your house.
