WHAT IS AN OFFICIAL PLAN? The Hawkesbury Official Plan is the primary policy document that guides the growth and development of the Town. It contains goals, objectives and policies which provide directions on how and where the Town is to grow, along with providing policies related to the management of resources, protection of natural heritage features and other land use and development issues within the Town of Hawkesbury. The Town’s current Official Plan was approved in 2010.
WHY ARE WE REVIEWING OUR OFFICIAL PLAN? The purpose of the Official Plan Review is to update the policies to conform to planning legislation and policies from the Province of Ontario, the United Counties of Prescott-Russell, government agencies, and members of the public. Review of Official Plans is required every five years.
WHY IS YOUR FEEDBACK IS IMPORTANT? The Official Plan affects everyone in the Town of Hawkesbury. Your input is important for the Town when drafting a new Official Plan. Public consultation provides the opportunity for residents to participate in reviewing and updating the policies and direction of the Town.
THE PURPOSE OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL is to inform members of the public about the Official Plan update and outline possible changes that may be implemented. The meeting provides an early opportunity for the public to offer comments, among several opportunities throughout the course of the planning process.
Personal information contained in written comments, collected pursuant to the Planning Act, will be used for the purposes of that Act and will form part of the public record. Questions should be addressed to the Freedom of Information and Privacy Coordinator at the Town of Hawkesbury.
